Feeding Struggling Families In Sudan
Every year, we look forward to the month of fasting. We wait eagerly for the devils to be locked up so we can enjoy a spiritual reset. In Sudan, preparations for Ramadan always begin early, the markets filling with crowds of people stocking up to pack their kitchens. The vibrance of the market in the morning, bustling with people laughing joyously and making prayers to see Ramadan, is something that will be missed. This year, Ramadan in Sudan will look a little different. With more than 16 million people internally displaced since April 15, 2023, the conflict in Sudan has resulted in catastrophic losses and is quickly becoming one of the worst humanitarian disasters in the world. Sadagaat needs your help to feed families in Sudan this Ramadan as they continue to face the unimaginable consequences of an ongoing crisis, which has led to a lack of access to basic needs and will likely end in famine without the proper aid and preventative measures needed to alleviate this suffering.

Sudan Humanitarian Crisis
On Saturday, April 15, 2023, rival factions of the Sudanese military government clashed in the capital city of Khartoum and the Darfur region. The conflict has severely affected the lives of Sudanese citizens, with over 15 million people experiencing acute food insecurity, shortages of essential utilities such as electricity and gas, and even medication and medical supplies shortages. Civilians are bearing the brunt of the violence, with many of the victims and injuries being non-combatants. The humanitarian situation in Sudan is catastrophic and chaotic, and the conflict is a major threat to the country’s fragile stability.
As of January 21, 2024 between 13,000 and 15,000 people have been killed and 33,000 injured. The international community has condemned the fighting and called for an immediate ceasefire. Over 8 million people have now been displaced due to the conflict, creating a major humanitarian crisis.
The humanitarian situation in Sudan remains catastrophic, with severe food insecurity, shortages of essential utilities, and limited access to medication and medical supplies.
The future of Sudan is uncertain, and the fighting could continue for months or even years. To provide life-saving aid to the affected population, Sadagaat-USA is collaborating with other US-based organizations and local initiatives in Sudan to offer food, medication, medical supplies, and water through its emergency response program. Your generous support can make a difference in helping the people of Sudan in their time of need. Please donate today.
